Title: Impact of human papillomavirus-related genital diseases on quality of life and psychosocial wellbeing: results of an observational, health-related quality of life study in the UK Fiander 3 We would like to thank you and the referees for reviewing our manuscripts, and are most grateful for the constructive comments and suggestions. We are pleased to re-submit a combined manuscript, which has been revised in accordance with the reviewers' comments. Our response to each point is given in this enclosure. We also attach the revised manuscript. If you have any queries on this resubmission please contact me. Please note that these two manuscripts come from the same study, present results from the same populations but using different instruments. For these reasons, it is very difficult to provide comments for the two manuscripts separately, particularly given that the main strengths and limitations apply to both manuscripts. Furthermore, as I will explain in my review, the interpretation of results, particularly for genital warts, would have been easier had the results been presented in a single manuscript. Finally, I do not think that there is sufficient material to have two separate manuscripts. However, if the authors still prefer to split the results of their study into two manuscripts, I have suggested a different organization of the results. In these papers, the authors examined the impact of several HPV-related diseases (Genital warts (GW), history of GW, precancerous cervical (CIN) and vulvar lesions (VIN)) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) using generic and disease-specific instruments. The HRQoL of all sub-populations has been assessed at baseline. Follow-up assessments were performed 24 weeks later for individuals with GW and a history of GW, and 4, 12 and 30 weeks later for women with CIN. Women with VIN were not followed-up. The results suggest that all Both reviewers commented that it would be better to present the results of both manuscripts together in one paper. Therefore we have chosen to combine the baseline study results into one manuscript and not present the follow-up data. 3 conditions had a negative impact of HRQoL and that this negative impact persisted over time. However, the effect varied according to the instrument used and according to the condition. Given that HPV vaccines are now available in many countries, data on the burden of HPV-related diseases are required to help policymakers and clinicians make recommendations about vaccination. Although this study contains interesting new information, …
